    PERANCANGAN JARINGAN FIBER OPTIK DI LINGKUNGAN UNIVERSITAS RIAU

    University of Riau (UR) has implemented fiber optic (FO) network to support internet and intranet demand. Nowadays, UR has leased 90 Mbps from PT. Telkom for UR internet usage, and for intranet, UR has a backbone local that using for connect between buildings with star topology. Multimode system that has been implemented does not have different backup link and already has been 15 years more. At the future, the existing system will not be able enough to support bandwidth demands, desired performance, and reliability. New design of FO network will have been done after consider power budget, risetime budget, bandwidth needs and reliability as good as UR needing. 1 Gbps bandwidth will be allocated for the new system and have been predicted to support UR needing in the next 30 years and more.
