    (2012-12-05) Hamidy, Yulis; Nazriati, elda
Thrombosis is one of the pathological condition which is leading cause of morbidity and mortality. The available anti-thrombotic agents like aspirin has serious side effects (bleeding, gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity, and severe neutropenia). It's important to find a new agent that more effective and more safely from natural product such as extract of sambiloto's leaves (Andrographis paniculata Nees.). 'The objective of this study was to evaluated the anti-thrombotic potency of extract of sambiloto's leaves compare with aspirin. 'This laboratory experimental study used the completely randomized design. Animals used in this study were fifty male Swiss mice that divided into 5 groups (N 10). TJxtract of sambiloto's leaves was administered orally once a day for 5 consecutive days. Anti-thrombotic potency was evaluated by measurement of bleeding time, clothing time and platelets aggregation that M^as induced by adenosin diphosphate (ADP), in vitro. Data was analyzed by analysis of variance test (Anova), followed by individual comparison within the groups by Duncan test. 'The .study shown anti-thrombotic potency of the extract of sambiloto's leaves 10 mg''20 gBW was similar with aspirin 0,5 mg/20 gBW (p<0,01), but the potency of the extract of sambiloto's leaves 5 mg/20 gBW and 20 mg 20 gBW were lower than aspirin 0,5 mg'20 gBW (p<0,0l). As the conclusion, extract of sambiloto's leaves has .similar anti-thromhotic potency compare with aspirin in male Swiss mice.
