    PANTUN POSITION IN MALAY SOCIETY ALTERATION AT PANGKALAN BATANG VILLAGE SUB-DISTRICT BENGKALIS PROVINCE OF RIAU

    This research titled “Pantun Position in Malay Society Alteration at Pangkalan Batang Village Sub-district Bengkalis Province of Riau“. This research aims to describe how pantun position in people’s live and to know the pantun functions for Pangkalan Batang Malay. To analyze data in a qualitative research conducted, collected data is then presented descriptively that is describe or recount results with logic narration analyze . This research was conducted in the Pangkalan Batang Village Sub-district Bengkalis Province of Riau. The results showed a change on the Pantun Tradition, which currently is rarely people use pantun. This occurs due to several factors, including internal and external factors. Internal factors include encouragement from within the community for change, education and mindset that has, a sense of dissatisfaction, action that deviate tolerance which not constitute law, and external factors include influence of foreign cultures, heterogeneous population and contact with other cultures
