    ANALISIS FILOGENETIK TIGA POPULASI DUKU TURAK (Lansium domesticum Corr.) ASAL KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI BERDASARKAN KARAKTER MORFOLOGI

    Duku Turak is a native fruit from Kuantan Singingi regency. This plant is mainly distributed in three regions i.e. Cerenti, Gunung Toar and Benai District. Those populations are predicted as old populations and have morphological character variation. In spite of this, the information of duku Turak is limited. Therefore a detail exploration of this plant is important to be carried out. The aims of this study were to analyzed the variation of morphological characters and to determine the phylogenetic relationship of duku Turak. The method was carried out using exploration method. A total of 40 individuals from three study sites were examined, consisted of 15 individuals from Cerenti, 15 from Gunung Toar and 10 from Benai. Fourty one morphological characters were scored to construct cladogram. Thirty nine individuals out of 40 were grouped together in a clade, while one individual of ingroup (Gunung Toar 12) was excluded and made a branch with outgroup. The group in cladogram was not based on the origin population but mainly based on the similarity of morphological character.

    ANALISIS HUBUNGAN KEKERABATAN MANGGA (Mangifera sp.) DI KABUPATEN KAMPAR BERDASARKAN KARAKTER MORFOLOGI

    Kampar is one of the regencies in Riau Province that has high diversity of mango (Mangifera). This research was aimed to analyze the phenetic relationship of mango cultivars from the regency. This study had been conducted from December 2011 to September 2012. A total of 50 morphological characters were scored and analyzed using NTSYSpc 2.02. 43 mango cultivars from seven Mangifera species were identified in this study followed by Mangifera indica (22 cultivars), Mangifera laurina (7 cultivars), Mangifera zeylanica (5 cultivars), Mangifera foetida (4 cultivars), Mangifera odorata (3 cultivars), Mangifera sumatrana (1 cultivar) and Mangifera sp. (1 cultivar). The silimarity coefficients were ranged from 0.36 to 0.88. The dendrogram showed two main groups based on its sub genus, the first group consisted of 35 cultivars from subgenus Mangifera and the second group consisted of 8 cultivars from subgenus Limus.

    ANALISIS HUBUNGAN KEKERABATAN PISANG (Musa spp.) DI KABUPATEN KAMPAR BERDASARKAN KARAKTER MORFOLOGI

    Kampar is a district in Riau Province that has high banana diversity. The aim of this research was to investigate the diversity of bananas based on morphological characters . This research had been conducted from March to July 2012 in five study sites i.e. Kampar Timur, Kampar, Rumbio Jaya, Tambang and Tapung Sub-district, using survey method and direct observation. A total of 43 banana trees were examined and scored using their morphological characters. The dendogram was constructed from similarity matrix using NTSyst which based on 89 morphological characters. The similarity coeficient was ranged from 0.15 to 0.84 that the highest relationship was found between Manis Bawang and Bantan cultivar, while the lowest relationship was found between Kowok and Lilin cultivar. A total of 33 banana cultivars were determined which based on the morphological character observation. The dendrogram showed two main groups, group I consisted of two cultivars, i.e. Tanduk and lilin, while group II consisted of 41 individuals from 31 cultivars. The potential bananas were divided into two groups, consumable bananas as fresh fruit (Buai Pendek, Udang, Godang, Barangan, Si Ajo, Tenalun, Timah) and cooked bananas (Tanduk, Bungo, Pawen, Nangko, Sirandah, Batu and Batu Abu).

    ANALISIS HUBUNGAN KEKERABATAN RAMBUTAN (Nephelium lappaceum L.) DI KABUPATEN KAMPAR PROVINSI RIAU BERDASARKAN KARAKTER MORFOLOGI

    Kampar is one of the region in Riau Province that has high diversity of rambutan. This study aimed to determine the relationship of rambutan from Kampar region based on morphological characters. The research had been carried out from November 2012 to Januari 2013 using an exploration method. A total of 40 morphological characters were scored and analyzed using NTSYS-pc 2.02.i. The range of similarity coefficient was from 0,17 to 0,75. The highest similarity coefficient was found between individual TB4 and NO18, individual NO11 and NO18, while the lowest similarity coefficient was found between NO5 and NO15. The Dendrogram showed that the clustering was not based on the sample location but based on the similarity of morphological characters

    ANALISIS KEKERABATAN Dendrobium Spesies MENGGUNAKAN MAXIMUM PARSIMONY BERDASARKAN KARAKTER MORFOLOGI DI PEKANBARU

    Dendrobium (Swartz.) species are distributed in tropical region such as Pekanbaru, Riau province. This research aimed to know their relationship based on the morphological characters. The morphological observation had been conducted for all of the species of Dendrobium. The skoring result had been analyzed using Maximum Parsimony in PAUP 4.0. A total of 10 species of Dendrobium were identified in this study. The phylogenetic results based on the MP analysis showed a cladogram with three main branches. The ingroup species were divided into two main clads, in the same branch with outgroup. The clad division in MP, Dendrobium crumenatum was the primitive species, while for modern species for MP was Dendrobium linguella

    CALYMPERACEAE (MUSCI) PADA BEBERAPA TIPE VEGETASI DI KAWASAN CAGAR BIOSFER GIAM SIAK KECIL-BUKIT BATU PROVINSI RIAU

    Giam Siak Kecil-Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve is a conservation area in Riau Province, characterized by its peat swamp forest. This area posses a unique biological diversity, including mosses (Musci). One family of Musci that can adapt in this area is Calymperaceae. This group has unique morphological structure and vegetative reproduction which make them can survive in this area. However, in spite of their uniques, the data of this group is inadequate and diversity of moss from this biosphere reserve had been not reported yet. The aims of this study are to identify, characterize, and classify Calymperaceae diversity of Giam Siak Kecil-Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve. All of the specimens in this study were collected from six sites, that are grouped based on their vegetation types, i.e. natural forest, industrial plant forest, rubber forest, rubber plantations, oil palm plantations and home gardens.     DAVALLIACEAE (PTERIDOPHYTA) DI BUKIT BATU KABUPATEN BENGKALIS-SIAK PROVINSI RIAU

    Bukit Batu is one of conserved area in Riau. It’s divided into three zone (core, buffer and transition). The last two zone is commonly used for agriculture, industry and local people settlement. Therefore, the flora compotition including ferns was affected by human activities. The aims of this research was to identify the fern species from Davalliaceae family in the buffer and transition zone in Bukit Batu, Riau. All samples were collected in the field using exploration method. Morphological characters were observed in the field were the colour of leaf, steam, rhizome and habitat. All samples were prepared for herbarium. The observation of spore were carried out using non-asetolisis and asetolisis methods. The result identified show six Davalliaceae species, i.e Davallia denticulata (Burm. f.) Mett. ex Kuhn., Nephrolepis hirsutula (G. Forst) C. Presl., Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott, Nephrolepis multiflora (Roxb.) F.M. Jarrett, Nephrolepis cordifolia (L.) C. Presl, dan Nephrolepis brownii (Desv.) Hovenkamp & Miyam that belong to two genera is Davallia and Nephrolepis

    EKSPORASI DAN KARAKTERISASI KEANEKARAGAMAN PLASMA NUTFAH MANGGA (MANGIFERA) DI SUMATRA TENGAH

    Identifikasi dan karakterisasi adalah sebuah jembatan utama menuju pemanfaatan sember daya genetic tanaman dan konservasinya. Sumatera merupakan daerah hutan hujan tropis dengan keunikan bentangan dan aspek ekologisnya sehingga memiliki kekayaan hayati yang tinggi, salah satunya tanaman mangga. Namun, laju deforestasi hutan yang tinggi di Sumatera, khususnya bagian tengah menuntut perlunya dilakukan studi eksplorasi sumber daya hayati sebagai langkah awal konservasi. Keanekaragaman mangga di Sumatera adalah aspek penting dan menarik untuk dikaji karena ditemukan adanya karakter khusus yaitu kemampuan berbuah pada curah hujan tinggi. Karakter ini dapat digunakan sebagai sumber persilangan untuk perbaikan sifat tanaman mangga budidaya guna merakit bibit unggul yang beradaptasi dengan iklim basah. Eksplorasi keanekaragaman mangga di Sumatera tengah telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survey, meliputi Provinsi Riau, Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Provinsi Jambi. Hasil eksplorasi diperoleh 900 koleksi mangga yang terdiri dari delapan spesies mangga, antara lain M. indica, M.zelenica, M. odorata, M. laurina, M. foetida, M. quadrifida, M. torquendra dan M. kemanga.

    Germplasm Exploration And Collection Of Mango Adaptable To High Rainfall Season From Sumatera

    Exploration and collection of germplasm is an important link between the conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources. One of the problems in the development of mango plantation in industrial scale in Sumatera island is the rendering of the cultivars that are grown with climate and soil type on Sumatera. During this time, the mango cultivars originating from the other islands as a source of seeds is failure to bear fruits. To improve the harvest of mango plantations in Sumatera for the foreseeable future, there is a need for exploration and collection of germplasm resources adapted to the high rainfall. The uniqueness of the Sumatran mangoes is the ability to grow, adapt and produce fruit in environments that have high rainfall as well as the diverse habitat types. The interaction with genetic factors will generate the wealth of genetic resources of mango which are different from other areas in Indonesia. The exploration and collection of Mangiferagermplasm in Sumatera has been done to obtain mango accessions that are adapted to high precipitation and soil moisture content. The mango exploration in Sumatera resulted in 10 species of mangoes grow and adapt to the Sumatran environment namely Mangiferafoetida, M. kemanga, M. sumaterana, M. torquenda, M. quadrifida, Mangifera sp1 (wild species), M. ordorata, M. laurina (semi-cultivated), M. indica, M. zyelanica (cultivated). The most adaptive mango to high rainfall is Mangiferaordorata that can grow well at an altitude of 0-800 m above sea level in the west coast of Sumatera

    Interaksi Rafflesia Di Riau Dengan Pohon Inangnya (Tetrastigma) Berdasarkan Kandungan Flavonoid

    Kajian mengenai hubungan Rafflesia dan Tetrastigma sebagai inang belum pernah dilakukan sehingga pertanyaan mengapa Rafflesia hanya bersimbiosis dengan golongan tumbuhan tersebut, masih belum terjawab. Analisis kandungan flavonoid dapat membantu mennecahkan permasalahan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerangkan interaksi jenis-jenis Rafflesia di Riau dengan tanaman inang (Tetrastigma), berdasarkan kandungan flavonoid sehingga dapat dijadikan langkah awal konservasi terutama ex-situ. Langkah awal dalam penelitian ini adalah survey lapangan untuk mengetahui penyebaran populasi Rafflesia. Hasil survey tersebut ditemukan dua populasi Rafflesia yaitu di wilayah Aek Telap dan Mandi Urau Kacik. Sampel yang diambil dari pohon inang Rafflesia (Tetrastigma) adalah akardan batang. Sedangkan pada Rafflesia diambil brakteanya sehingga tidak akan mengganggu pertumbuhannya. Analisis kandungan flavonoid menggunakan HPLC (Higfi Performance Liquid Chromatography). Jenis flavonoid yang dijumpai pada Rafflesia dan T. tubberculosum yaitu kafein, katekin, leuoco antosianin, asam fenol dan nikotin. Kandungan kelima jenis flavonoid yang ditemukan pada kedua populasi Rafflesia tidak jauh berbeda, hal ini menunjukan kemungkinan besar jenis Rafflesia pada Mandi Urau merupakan jenis yang sama dengan Aek Telap yaitu R. hasseltii. Kandungan flavonoid tertinggi adalah asam fenolic (591 ppm) dan terendah adalah katekin (62 ppm). Pada Tetrastigma tuberculatum, kandungan flavonoid kedua populasi juga tidak terlalu jauh berbeda. Namun untuk batang kandungan semua jenis flavonoid lebih besar dari pada akar. Asam fenolik merupakan senyawa yang mempunyai kandungan tertinggi pada akar (152 ppm) dan batang (279 ppm) T. tuberculatum, sedangkan kandungan terendah - seperti halnya pada R. hasseltii - d\]umpa\ pada katekin (12,4 ppm pada akar dan 25 ppm pada batang). Interaksi Rafflesia dan Tetrastigma tuberculatum di TNBT sangat kuat dibuktikan dengan jenis flavonoid yang sama pada kedua jenis tersebut. Kesamaan kandungan flavonoid ini menjawab pertanyaan mengapa inang Rafflesia selalu dari genus Tetrastigma.

Dari 23jenis tersebut dijumpai 4 jenis yang saprofit yaitu: Gastrodia sp. Lecanorchisjavana BL. Aphyllorchis pallida BL., dan Epipogium roseum (D.Don) Lindl. Sebagian besar jenis menyukai tempat yang ternaungi dan lembab. Jenis yang palin umum dijumpai adalah Nephelaphyllum pulchrum Bl. dan Nephelaphyllum tenuiflorum Bl.

    JENIS – JENIS ADIANTACEAE DI TAMAN HUTAN RAYA SULTAN SYARIF HASYIM PROVINSI RIAU

    Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim (TAHURA SSH) is one of the conservation area in Riau Province that have many functions such as for conservation, support research and education, and also for recreation. This region has high deforestation rate. But in spite of this, the undestructed area still has high biological diversity, including fern. One of the fern family found in TAHURA SSH is Adiantaceae. This study aims to identify the diversity of Adiantaceae species, using exploration method. All of the samples were collected in the field and then dried to make herbarium. The herbarium voucher numbers were deposited in the Riauense Herbarium, Department of Biology, Faculty of Math and Natural Resources Science, University of Riau. The morphological characters of each species were carefully examined to prepare species identification. The observation of spore were carried out using non-asetolisis and asetolisis methods. A total of seven Adiantaceae species from five genera were identified as follow Taenitis blechnoides (Willd.) Sw., Taenitis interrupta Hook. & Grev., Adiantum latifolium Lam, Adiantum peruvianum Klotzsch, Syngramma walichii Bedd., Pityrogramma calomelanos (L.) Link and Cheilanthes insignis Ching.

    JENIS-JENIS POLYPORACEAE DI TAMAN HUTAN RAYA SULTAN SYARIF HASYIM PROVINSI RIAU

    Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim (TAHURA SSH) is a conservation area for the collection of flora and fauna, this area also used to support research, knowledge, cultural study, as well as tourism. The deforestation of this area is up to 60%, this condition may decrease the biodiversity, including fungi from Polyporaceae family. This research aimed to identify the Polyporaceae fungi in TAHURA SSH. The samples were collected using explorative descriptive method. There were 12 Polyporaceae fungi identified in this study that belong to 6 genus, i.e Gloephyllum (Gloephyllum odoratum), Fomes (Fomes fomentarius and Fomes sp.), Microporus (Microporus xanthopus, Microporus sp., R2, R9 and R20), Trametes (Trametes sp.1 and Trametes sp.2), Coriolus (Coriolus sp.), and Pavolus (Pavolus sp.).

    KARAKTER MORFOLOGI STOMATA PAKU Nephrolepis hirsutula (G. Forst.) C. Presl DI PT PANCA SURYA GARDEN KAMPAR RIAU

    Nephrolepis hirsutula is one of epiphytic ferns belonging to Nephrolepidaceae family. The purpose of this study was to characterize the stomatal morphology of Nephrolepis hirsutula collected fom Panca Surya Garden Ltd. Kampar Riau. The sampling was carried out using the exploration method. The stomata preparation were made using replication method. The results showed that Nephrolepis hirsutula had a hypostomatic type with kidney-shaped, 42,93 ± 3,02 μm long and 25,91 ± 3,05 μm wide. The stomata were uniformly distributed on the abaxial surface. The combined stomata types were the polocytic and pseudopolocytic with 2 and 3 irregular neighbor cells.

    Karakterisasi Genus Artocarpus (Moraceae) di Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim Riau berdasarkan karakter morfologi dan kandungan flavonoidnya

    Tahura SSH Provinsi Riau merupakan salah satu daerah penyebaran Artocarpus. Penelitian ini untuk mengkarakterisasi anggota Artocarpus di TAHURA SSH Riau berdasarkan karakter morfologi dan flavonoidnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling. Jenis-jenis Artocarpus yang ditemukan di TAHURA SSH Provinsi Riau sebanyak 6 jenis, yaitu A. altilis, A. elasticus, A. heterophylus, A. integer, A. kemando an A. rigidus. Variasi ditemukan padda karakter morfologi yang ditemukan. Uji flavonoid menunjukan bahwa 2 jenis Artocarpus yang mempunyai flavonoid, yaitu A. elastiscus dan A. Kemando

    PT. Panca Surya Garden is one of the oil palm plantations in Kampar District, Riau Province which is area distribution area for fern species. The purpose of this study was to compare the morphological characteristics of three species which belong to family of Nephrolepidaceae collected from palm oil plantation PT. Panca Surya Garden. The morphological characters were described from Nephrolepis biserrata, Nephrolepis exaltata and Nephroplepis hirsutula. Each species was distinguished based on the characteristics of sterile young fronds, leaf surface, leaf base, and the position of sorus. N. biserrata has rough surface of the leaf, blunt leaf base, and spores arranged on the underside of the leaf, N. exaltata surface hairy leaves, spores along the edges of thin leaves, while N. hirsutula is found with a slippery leaf surface, rounded leaf base, and spores along the edge of a thick leaf

    Bukit Rimbang Bukit Baling Wildlife Reserve (BRBB WR) is conservation area which been has disturbed by human activities such as, illegal logging, forest convertion into cultivation area and uncontrolled burning/wildfires. Therefore, the floras in this area, including Nepenthes habitat and their existance will be disturbed. The aim of this research was to characterize morphologically N. ampullaria in BRBB WR. All of the samples were collected from the field using exploration method and prepared for herbarium. The morphological characteres that were observed including stem, leaf, tendril and the pitcher. The morphological characterization on Nepenthes ampullaria resulted two variations: Na1 and Na2.

    KARAKTERISTIK FISIK DAN MEKANIK UYUNG SAGU BERDURI DAN TIDAK BERDURI (Metroxylon Sagu Rottb.) PADA DUA TIPE HABITAT DI PULAU PADANG KABUPATEN KEPULAUAN MERANTI

    Sago processing produces both liquid and solid waste (uyung). Uyung is sago bark that still has benefit for raw material. The utilization of uyung may reduce the waste as well as increase the income of local people. This study aimed to determine the physical and mechanical characters of uyung from two sago cultivars, spiny and unspiny sago from two different habitats (peatland and clay soil), in order to provide basic information of uyung for bioprospecting efforts. Two trees of each sago cultivar from different habitat were examined, each tree was divided into eight parts (100 cm each). Three replications of uyung (30 x 2 cm) were collected from each part, with total samples were 384. The parameters observed were physical and mechanical characters of uyung. This research was carried out using a nested complete randomized design. The data was analized with ANOVA using SPSS 17.0. The morphological observation of uyung showed that uyung color of both cultivars was reddish-brown with dark-brown stripes, the surface was smooth and shiny, hard, but easily broken. Based on the physical character observation, the first part of spiny sago from clay soil habitat was considered as the best uyung, due to its lowest water content (5,72%), highest fiber density (1,28 g/cm2) and highest specific gravity (1,21). Based on the mechanical character observation, the first part of spiny sago from clay soil habitat was also considered as the best part due to its highest flexural strength (216 kg/cm2), highest elasticity strength (31.725 kg/cm2), and highest compression strength (244,73 kg/cm2).

    Riau University is one of areas for Caesalpinoideae subfamily population. The purpose of this study was to characterize morphological characteristics of Caesalpinoideae leaves in this campus area. Sampling in the field was carried out by using exploratory method. A total of three Caesalpinoideae species are recorded in this study i.e. Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Delonix regia and Senna siamea. The leaf morphology of all these species are characterized and described in detail. Their leaf characteristics show variation on size, color and shape.

    KARAKTERISTIK STOMATA dan EPIDERMIS PADA DUA JENIS PAKU Nephrolepis (Nephrolepidaceae) di PEKANBARU, RIAU

    Stomatal and epidermal characteristic play important role in taxonomical works of ferns. The purpose of this study was to compare the stomata and epidermis characteristics of two Nephrolepis species collected from Pekanbaru, Riau, namely Nephrolepis biserrata and Nephrolepis cordifolia. Samples were collected from the field using the exploration method. Stomata preparations were made using the replica method. Characteristics of stomata and epidermis that distinguish between two nephrolepis species were the type, the shape and size, the number and distribution of stomata, as well as the shape of epidermal cells.
