The purpose of this research was to identify the herpetofauna and to determine herpetofauna species diversity in different habitats. The research was conducted from June to July 2012 in Campus Area of Riau University. The methods used in this research were purposive sampling and passive sampling. Purposive sampling was conducted by Visual Encounter Sampling (VES). Samples of herpetofauna were identified in the Laboratory of Zoology FMIPA UR. 22 species of herpetofauna were found which consist 13 species of reptiles and 9 amphibians. Diversity Index (H') of reptiles species in terrestrial habitats, aquatic habitats and arboreal habitat were 1.32 (low), 1.01 (low), 0.47 (very low) respectively. Diversity Index of amphibians species in terrestrial habitat and aquatic habitats 0.87 (low), 1.57 (middle) respectively. Diversity of herpetofauna in Campus Area of Riau University was categorized low. The highest abundance of reptiles and amphibians was H. frenatus (0,38) and R. erythreae (0,34) respectively. Evenness (E) of reptile in terrestrial habitat, aquatic habitats and arboreal habitats were 0.74, 0.73. 0.43 respectively. While the Evenness (E) of amphibians in aquatic habitats were 0.98 and terrestrial habitat 0.54. Species ampbihians in arboreal was not founded. Herpetofauna species which were found during this research were listed in Appendix I (Varanus nebulosus) and Appendix II (Varanus salvator and Python reticulatus).
