Item PENGARUH VARIASI WAKTU AKTIVASI TERHADAP TINGKAT PENYERAPAN KARBON AKTIF DARI KAYU EUCALYPTUS PELLITA(2016-10-12) Sumiati, Iis; Farma, RakhmawatiThe researchstudied the effect of variations in chemical activation time toward adsorption rateof activated carbon from Eucalyptus Pellita wood. Eucalyptus Pellita wood used was the inside part of wood which was about 2 cm from the outer portion wood. The first process ofEucalyptus Pellita wood becoming activated carbon was done by the conventional carbonization process for 1.5 hours and continued by the process of chemical activation using KOH activator with variations of activation time 15, 20, 25 hours, and aided by microwave irradiation. Characterization of surface morphology showed that the activation time of 25 hours produced the most pores and supported by the pore surface area of activated carbon of 331.058 m2 / g and the maximum adsorption rate of 89.26 mg / g. The results showed that the chemical activation time variation affects the physical properties of activated carbon made ofEucalyptus Pellitawood.Item PENGARUH WAKTU KARBONISASI TERHADAP SIFAT FISIS KARBON AKTIF KAYU EUCALYPTUS PELLITA(2016-10-12) khadafi, Muammar; Awitdrus; Farma, RakhmawatiActivated carbon has been successfully made from wood Eucalyptus pellita with different carbonization time. Eucalyptus pellita wood carbonized conventionally using canned, cut and sieved to the size of 1-2 mm. Carbon with different carbonization time has been activated using KOH in ratio mass : KOH 2:1 and irradiated using microwave for 20 minutes at 630 watts. The research result showed carbon with highest percentage of sample KA 1,5 with a value 76,05% and followed sample KA 2,0 and KA 1,0 with a value 69,84% and 66,36%. Characterization testing was done to see the surface morphplogy, microstructure and absorption with using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM),X-Ray Difraction (XRD) and methylene blue. SEM micrograph data showed morphology and pores activated carbon. XRD data showed the distance between the lattice (dhkl), the width of the lattice (La) and high of lattice (Lc) with a value highest Lc KA 1,5 with value dhkl 3,99 nm, La 1,018 and Lc 3,035. Methylene blue data showed absorption capability and surface area activated carbon contained in KA 1,5 with a value 98,98 mg/gr.
