Abstract

This research is aimed to know the potency of using empty fruit bunches of palm if it is exploited as compost fertilizer in the Province of Riau, at the same time to know the expense that can be saved using this compost. The data in this research is secondary data. The method and the data analysis which is used is quantitative descriptive using statistics projection with linier method. According to Singh et.al (1989), the amount of empty fruit bunches from one ton of empty fruit bunches is 22-23% in which the empty fruit bunches has nutrient unsure natrium (0,5%), Pospor (0,5%), and Magnesium (0,9) that can replace nutrient unsure on chemical fertilizer. . Based on the calculation, the combination of compost and chemical fertilizer can reduce the expense of fertilizing with anorganic equal to Rp.14.053 on unproductive oil palm and Rp. 12.270 on productive palm. It is estimated that in 2015 the potency of empty fruit bunches that can be exploited as compost fertilizer are 2.04 million tons and produce 846,1 thousand tons of compost fertilizer to fertilize 399.414,7 Ha
