Bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper ) can be used as an activated char since it has a high carbon content i.e. 47.6%. Activated char of bamboo was made from carbonization and activation processes, which used Na2CO3 activator with concentration variation of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%, respectively. In this study, the activated char bamboo with the variation of Na2CO3 concentration were characterizated and it was obtained that the optimum concentration of Na2CO3 was 5% with 3.05% of moisture content, 3.67% of ash content, and surface area was 74.52 m2/g. The activated char bamboo with 5 % Na2CO3 was tested to adsorp the ion of zink (SNI-6989.7:2009) and sulphate (SNI 06-2426-(1991) of boreholes water. Zink and sulphate content were analyzed using Atomic Absorption of Spectrofotometer (AAS) and Spectrofotometer UV-VIS, respectively. The results showed that the optimum adsorption of activated char of bamboo for zink and sulphate ion were 68.061% and 57.445%, respectivelyen_US
