dc.description.abstractAsthma is a chronic inflammatory associated with airway cause symptoms such as recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing, especially at night or in the early days and it is reversible with or without treatment. This was a retrospective descriptive study using the total sampling method to know the profile of asthma outpatients in Emergency Department Arifin Achmad General Hospital in Riau Province on January-December 2011. The data from the 46 samples were taken from the medical record in Emergency Department Arifin Achmad General Hospital in Riau Province on January-December 2011. The result of this study indicated that majority of asthmatic patients who came to the Emergency Department were female (73,9%) with the patients were within the 35-44 years old age group (28,3%). The most clinical manifestation were breathlessness (100%) and findings on physical examination were wheezing (80,4%), 58.9% patients came with moderate acute attacks and the medication given was salbutamol (100%.) There were 20 persons (43.5%) who use health insurance.en_US
