dc.description.abstractDiabetes is a lifelong disease with no cure and can increase the risk of death. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes of patients toward prevention of DM complications of retinopathy in the eye clinic at the Polyclinic Hospital Particularly basil base Kerinci. This research is descriptive. Guide Special Polyclinic Hospital eye clinic basil Kerinci base from December 2012 to January 2013 with a sample of 30 people is diagnosed DM patients. Data collection tool used was a questionnaire, analysis univariat.Dengan chi-square test using a computerized method. The results respondent characteristics in hospitals Basil Pelalawan mostly average age less than 55 years old, female by 22 people (73.3%), most respondents have a low level of education (elementary and secondary) totaled 21 people (70.0 %), the majority did not work (housewives and unemployed) accounted for 19 people (63.3%), most respondents never received health education, as well as the long-suffering DM on average less than 4 years. The majority of patients with diabetes mellitus knowledge on the prevention of retinopathy complications in hospitals Pelalawan Basil is good that as many as 16 respondents (53.3%). The majority of patients with diabetes mellitus attitudes show more positive attitudes about the prevention of complications of retinopathy by 21 respondents (70.0%). A significant association between knowledge of the prevention of complications (p> 0.05), to improve the knowledge and attitudes of patients about diabetes, especially about prevention of DM complications.en_US
