Abstract
Based on observation and interview the researchers did a lot of students
who are not able to play pianika in class III is caused by several things, among
others: Teachers teach using lecture method, the teacher-centered learning. Not all
students are given the opportunity to try to use pianika directly. Teacher only
demonstrates how to hold pianika course, without equipped with an explanation to
the students. This study aims to improve the technical ability to play pianika third-grade students with the application of the method demonstration of SD Negeri 26
Pekanbaru. This study was conducted in November-December 2012 with a
number of 33 students consisting of 18 female students and 15 male students.
Research is a form of action research. The research instrument consists of learning
tools and data collection instruments such as teacher observation sheet activities,
student activities, and tests the student's ability. From the results of this research is
that of the student's ability obtained through tests the ability of students has
increased from an average grade score of 57.58 to 66.06 on the basis of the first
cycle, and increased in the second cycle with an average of 84.09. From this study
it can be concluded that the application of methods of improving the ability of
playing techniques pianika grade III SD Negeri 26 Pekanbaru, is acceptable
