Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are living and saprophyte bacteria associated with plant tissue without causing harm to the plant. One of endophytic bacteria is from the genus of Bacillus sp. Molecular analysis using 16S rRNA genes needs to be done to identify and determine the species of endophytic bacteria. The purpose of this study was to isolate DNA of endophytic bacteria originated from palm oil plants by using 16S rRNA gene. This research was conducted from February to May 2016. Bacteria was isolated from 3 healthy palm plants, existed around oil palm crops which were afflicted by disease of rotting base on the stem. Of each plant, bacteria were isolated from the stem, roots, stems and leaf. Research methods included the manufacture of medium Nutrient Agar (NA) and Nutrient Broth (NB), rejuvenation of the isolates of bacteria, bacterial DNA isolation and electrophoresis. The whole (12) isolates of endophytic bacteria which successfully isolated showed that the total DNA retrieved was intact, characterized by a thick and intact band
