Abstract
This study aims to analyze the willingness of people who use mass transit services in pay
rates; explain class strata of people who use mass transit services, as well as explaining the factors to
attract the public to use mass transit metro trans.
This study used a survey approach with quantitative methods. This study population is the
city of Pekanbaru who use mass transit metro daily trans. In a sampling study conducted in judgment
sampling with a sample of 98 respondents. Data collection techniques using questionnaire and
interview guidelines. The data are analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis method, while the
quantitative data were analyzed using the techniques of Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) or
(surveying consumer preferences) or (method bargain).
The result showed that the willingness to pay or wtp (willingness to pay) the service users of
mass transit in the city of Pekanbaru is Rp.2, 964.dan tariff is Rp. 3.000. It shows that people do not
mind the prevailing rates. It found that people who use mass transit and diverse not only from below
but also from the top, because the establishment of BRT (Trans Metro Pekanbaru) proved capable of
changing the preference most people to use mass transit services rather than private vehicles as a
means of mobility. So also with the factors that attract people to use mass medium, the people would
use mass transit if the existing infrastructure is now rectified, because the perceived rate is not too
expensive then people demand a sense of comfort and security in the bus or in the bus stop.
